Ingredients

tomatoes 200 g.

brown sugar 2 tsp.

apple cider vinegar 2 tsp.

salt 1.5 tsp.

smoked paprika 1 tsp.

Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp. Portions

About the recipe

Spicy tomato sauce (or ketchup) goes well with meat and pasta. The sauce is very easy to prepare. The main secret of a delicious sauce is good ripe tomatoes. Unlike store-bought ketchups, homemade ketchup does not contain any preservatives, so you can safely give it to children.
Cooking steps

  1. If you are using fresh tomatoes, remove the skins. To do this, make a small cut on the skin and lower the tomatoes into boiling water for a few seconds - after this the skin will be easily peeled. Remove stems and chop tomatoes.
  2. Place the tomatoes in a small saucepan. Add remaining ingredients. Turn the heat up to medium and place the pan on it. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer the sauce for another 10 minutes.
  4. Cool the mixture, beat with a blender until smooth, pour into a glass jar, close the lid tightly and store in the refrigerator.
