About the recipe
Spicy tomato sauce (or ketchup) goes well with meat and pasta. The sauce is very easy to prepare. The main secret of a delicious sauce is good ripe tomatoes. Unlike store-bought ketchups, homemade ketchup does not contain any preservatives, so you can safely give it to children.Cooking steps
- If you are using fresh tomatoes, remove the skins. To do this, make a small cut on the skin and lower the tomatoes into boiling water for a few seconds - after this the skin will be easily peeled. Remove stems and chop tomatoes.
- Place the tomatoes in a small saucepan. Add remaining ingredients. Turn the heat up to medium and place the pan on it. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer the sauce for another 10 minutes.
- Cool the mixture, beat with a blender until smooth, pour into a glass jar, close the lid tightly and store in the refrigerator.
