Sweet chili sauce combines seemingly incompatible tastes - heat and sweetness. It is this combination that gives the sauce its special piquancy. This sauce is perfect for meat and vegetable dishes; it can be served with appetizers and used in cooking. And best of all, sweet chili sauce is super easy to make at home.

Cooking steps

  1. Peel the chili pepper, remove the seeds and chop it finely (if you want a fiery hot sauce, leave the seeds).
  2. In a small saucepan, combine 200 ml water, sugar, chilli pepper, white wine vinegar. Place the pan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil.
  3. While the sauce is heating, mix 30ml water with the cornstarch in a bowl.
  4. When the sugar in the sauce dissolves and the water begins to boil strongly, while stirring the sauce, pour the starch solution into it in a thin stream.
  5. Stir the sauce constantly until it boils again and thickens.
  6. Remove the sauce from the heat and let cool. Store in a tightly sealed glass jar in the refrigerator.
