About the recipe

Sweet pickle relish is used at McDonald's to make hamburgers. This is a classic American marinade. It is used with sandwiches, as a sauce for vegetables and meat.

Cooking steps

  1. Peel the cucumbers, cut them lengthwise into 4 pieces and remove the seeds. Then finely chop the cucumbers into cubes.
  2. Peel the pepper, remove the seeds and finely chop into cubes approximately the same size as the cucumbers.
  3. Peel the onion and also cut into cubes like cucumbers and peppers.
  4. Take a piece of gauze, put chopped vegetables on it, fold it into a knot and squeeze it out - you need to remove as much moisture as possible from the vegetables.
  5. In a small saucepan, combine vinegar, sugar, mustard seeds and celery seeds. Place over medium heat and bring to a boil.
  6. Add the squeezed vegetables to the saucepan with vinegar, stir and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes.
  7. Pour the marinade into used jars with screw-on lids and let cool. Seal the jars and store the sauce in the refrigerator.
