Pea soup with smoked ham

About the recipe
- Pea soup with smoked ham combines the flavors of classic pea soup with a hint of smoked meat. Our family especially loves this soup in the fall and winter - it is nutritious and perfectly warms and satisfies in cold weather. Just like classic pea soup, I recommend serving heap soup with smoked ham and white croutons or croutons.
- Cooking steps
- Peel and finely chop the onion and celery. Chop the garlic with a knife.
- Place a large saucepan in which you will cook the soup over medium heat. Heat butter in a saucepan. Fry the onion, celery and garlic in it for 5-7 minutes. The onion should become transparent, but not fried.
- While the onions are frying, chop the ham.
- Add ham and peas to the pan with onions. Add water and chicken broth. Throw in the bay leaf and cook after boiling for about 1 hour 15 minutes - an hour and a half until the peas are tender.
- While the soup is cooking, cut the white bread into cubes and dry in the oven.
- When the peas are boiled, add salt and pepper to the soup to taste. Serve hot with crackers.
